When I was in second grade, I had difficulties with reading. At the time, I did not know I had an undiagnosed Learning disability. I was fortunate enough to have access to tutors who helped me catch up to the rest of my classmates and it has helped me throughout my academic career. I started the Sonoma Summer Reading Program to help all students receive access to quality tutoring.

We pair Sonoma Academy High School honors students with students from Helen Lehman Elementary over the summer. Each student will have their designated buddy that they meet with three times a week. Our tutors will help improve their reading skills, preparing them for the following year's reading curriculum.

Our objective is to improve student's reading grade-level throughout the summer in a positive and caring environment. We believe summer is an opportunity to improve reading skills rather than regress and fall behind the following school year.
